Everything you need to know about Kava Moon
Kava Moon is a premium, ready-to-drink kava beverage made from 100% noble kava root sourced from Pacific Island farmers. We've taken a 3,000-year-old tradition and made it convenient for modern life.
Each bottle contains a carefully measured dose of high-quality kava that delivers the relaxation and social benefits you're looking for without any alcohol.
Kava has an earthy, slightly peppery taste. It's unique and takes some getting used to. Your tongue might feel a bit numb - that's totally normal and means the kavalactones are working.
We've worked hard to make ours as smooth as possible while keeping it authentic. Think of it less like a dessert drink and more like a craft beer or good whiskey - something you appreciate for what it does, not just how it tastes.
Each bottle of Kava Moon contains 300mg of kavalactones per serving, which is a solid medium-strength dose. This is enough for most people to feel relaxed without being overwhelming.
If you're new to kava, start with 1.5oz and see how you feel. Experienced kava drinkers might enjoy 3oz or more.
Yes. We only use certified noble kava varieties from trusted Pacific Island suppliers. Noble kava is the traditional, safe type that's been used in ceremonies for thousands of years.
We test every batch to confirm the chemotype and ensure you're getting authentic noble kava. No tudei kava, no sketchy sources, no exceptions.
We keep it simple: noble kava root extract, purified water, and natural flavoring. That's it. No artificial sweeteners, no weird chemicals, no alcohol.
Our kava is vegan, gluten-free, and made in the USA under strict quality standards.
What to expect and how to use kava
Kava brings a calm, relaxed feeling without making you foggy or out of it. Your body loosens up, social anxiety melts away, and you feel content just being present.
It's not like alcohol - you stay clearheaded and won't get drunk. It's more like taking the edge off a stressful day or getting into the right headspace for hanging out with friends.
Most people start feeling something within 20-30 minutes. The full effects build over the next hour or so.
Drinking kava on an empty stomach speeds things up. If you've just eaten a big meal, it might take longer to kick in.
This is called "reverse tolerance" and it's completely normal. Some people need to drink kava a few times before they really feel the effects.
Your body needs to build up certain receptors. Keep at it for 3-5 sessions and you'll likely start noticing the benefits. Check out our reverse tolerance guide for more info.
Start with 1.5oz if you're new. Give it 30-45 minutes before deciding if you want more.
Regular kava drinkers often enjoy 1.5oz - 3oz in a session. Listen to your body and find what works for you.
Noble kava (like ours) has been consumed daily in Pacific Island cultures for thousands of years. That said, we recommend taking breaks - maybe drinking kava 4-5 days a week rather than every single day.
This gives your liver a rest and keeps the effects from becoming too familiar. Moderation is key with anything.
Nope. One of the best things about kava is waking up clear-headed. No hangover, no regrets, no wasted next day.
You might feel a little sleepy or extra relaxed the next morning, but it's nothing like an alcohol hangover.
Important information about using kava safely
When you use noble kava (like we do), it has an excellent safety record spanning thousands of years. The World Health Organization has reviewed kava and found noble varieties to be safe for consumption.
Some older studies raised concerns, but those were traced back to low-quality kava products using stem and leaf material or tudei varieties. We use only the root from noble cultivars.
Noble kava from the root has not been shown to cause liver problems when used responsibly. The concerns you might have read about came from products using aerial parts of the plant or tudei varieties.
That said, if you have existing liver issues or take medications that affect your liver, talk to your doctor first. And don't mix kava with alcohol or acetaminophen.
No. Don't mix kava with alcohol. Both are processed by your liver and combining them puts extra stress on it.
Plus, you're kind of missing the point - kava is the alcohol alternative. Choose one or the other.
We don't recommend it. While kava doesn't impair you like alcohol, it can make you feel relaxed and potentially drowsy. Better to enjoy it at home or somewhere you don't need to drive.
It's not illegal to drive after kava, but use common sense. If you feel too relaxed or sleepy, don't get behind the wheel.
Skip kava if you're:
When in doubt, check with your doctor.
